How on earth did THIS get 1600 mostly 4+ star reviews?????
Like most, I research reviews and star ratings on Amazon before buying. This retro little girl's kitchen had tons of good reviews (1600 total at the time---most positive). But there was always the caveat: "Well, it DOES take some time to assemble....". Say what????? This entire kitchen arrived in a box about 40" long, 15" wide, 4" thick. With not even a PHOTO of the dang product on the outside to go by. THAT should have been our first clue to just send it back. When the box was opened out sprung about 20+ pink pieces of formica-covered masonite---heavy as heck (that's good and bad). And a crazy conglomeration of screws, bolts (some pink, some not). Plus a FORMIDABLE manual on how to build the entire dang kitchen. Are. You. Kidding. Me? My husband's a mechanic-farmer-type guy. He can assemble absolutely anything almost blind-folded. And here he was buried in a pile of pink. (Yes, it WAS kind of funny....until it went on for hours.) I'm a former editor. I read and read and read the instructions and I couldn't even begin to figure them out. Who writes this stuff? Never mind, don't answer that. And hubby's intuitive skills on how to assemble pink boards and screws fell, well, flat. He's on hour #6 and giving it a rest until tomorrow. THIS is absolutely ridiculous. If we wanted to build an entire dang mini-kitchen, we could have just taken some bubble-gum pink spray paint and decent pine wood and done it ourselves. This is NOT rocket science. But apparently writing the blasted directions IS! Sheez, KidCraft, hire a freaking English-speaking copy-writer and then put MOST of your product together BEFORE you ship it out. So disgusted.
