As a person of color, I find this book really offensive. This book does nothing but perpetuate negative stereotypes. It gives children the wrong perception that people of color are less equal to white people. That is blatantly false and has been for several decades. All people, regardless of skin color, hair color, eye color, height, ability, etc should be treated as equals, even in a children's book. If you want your child to grow up knowing that all people are equal, then start them off knowing that all people are equal. Teaching a child that people of color are predetermined to face more adversity than whites will only give your child the opinion that certain groups of people should be treated more special than others. All people are equal and should be treated as such, period.
