So Many Possibilities
First I want to say I am NOT affiliated with this company in any way. If you'll look at my other reviews you'll see I love to take craft gadgets and experiment with them. I was so excited when I saw this I opted for the overnight shipping option (prime member here). I received it last night. I immediately read through the instruction booklet and watched the video a couple of times as was suggested. My first bracelet turned out great until I started to fiddle with it. It was the simple swirl. As I gently fiddled with it, the threads separated and the core showed. So on my next swirl I pushed down the threads, tight against the end making sure there was no room for the threads to separate...figured that one out, it worked, they no longer have room to separate. Next I made the color block and the loopy twist. They all turned out pretty good, but I noticed on the loopy twist there was the same problem of the evenly distributed twists to get out of place. Also, these bracelets seem a little stiff but perhaps with a little wear the stiffness will ease. All in all it was an "OK" gadget, but not in my opinion worth $33+!! Then I thought I'd try using size 10 crochet thread for my core and wrap the core with one layer of had spun yarn and one layer of mixed fiber yarn. I don't measure the same as is suggested. I make my core and tie it off at the loop end and then cut it. I then tie on my wrap thread, leaving it on the ball, or skein so I don't have to worry about what length I need, plus I don't waste yarn. I also use a small amount of glue on my knots. I tied on a lobster clasp, again using a small amount of glue. I loved the result and realized this toy has great potential. I have included a picture of the three bracelets using embroidery floss and one picture of the spun yarn bracelet on the initial product page. My biggest disappointment I think is the quality of the product. It's totally plastic and the gears seem to want to catch leaving me to wonder how long this will last, maybe it's just the one I received that is doing this, I don't know. I'll try to update this after I've made quite a few bracelets. I'm making these bracelets for charity so I shall make a lot. ETA: OK, I'm made a lot of bracelets and although I'm liking the product, I've downgraded the stars from five to two!!! It's just NOT worth the monies they are asking. Now I'm having a problem with my hooks which have gotten out of line and one hook faces up, the other hook faces almost down. Try wrapping your core around that! Not easy and it doesn't want to work right. I'm sorry, I've tried so hard to like this. The idea itself is novel and could be wonderful, but there's lots of room for improvement with this and again, I might, (and I mean "might") pay $12.00 for it, but that's the limit.
