DO NOT PURCHASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My feet are ALWAYS cold due to peripheral neuropathy (dying nerve and muscle tissue). I even sleep with wool socks on. After contracting frostbite (while wearing wool socks and hiking boots), I purchased a pair of these socks. It turns out my wife had also purchased a pair for my birthday. With 2 sets of heated socks available to me, I thought I was set. The socks themselves seem to function well. As I cannot feel much on my feet, I cannot tell if they are working unless I reach down to touch them. The socks DID indeed stop my toes from stinging in the cold, so I assume they are functioning adequately. The batteries last 5-6 hours on the low setting. I haven't used the high setting yet. I would like to get a higher energy battery to last longer, but it appears there is none available. This is entirely my preference and is not any type of "ding" against the product. My issue with the socks; There is a fabric channel inside the socks wherein the power wire runs from the battery (top of sock) to the toes (heating area). The stitching on one side of the channel somehow unraveled. The wire was then free to move within the sock, running the risk of damage to the wiring itself and being uncomfortable. I thought this was a fluke, however BOTH pairs of socks had the same problem. It does appear to be some type of defect in the manufacture of the product. As return of the $80 product was counterproductive to my financial health (I get to pay the shipping on a defective product), I elected to sew the channelS back up myself. I did notify Flambeau about the issue, however I doubt if any change will come about. Addendum: As of this date (1/12/17), I have not had any type of response from Flambeau regarding this problem. I didn't really expect much, but a "thank you for your input" would have been nice.......................... 2/16/17 - socks are rapidly dying-shorting out apparently. I take VERY good care of them, including handwashing. I am very unhappy...
