The soup maker was ok. Based on other reviews, I didn't expect it to make a large volume, it worked fairly quickly, and the clean up was going to be a hassle. It makes enough soup for 2, it did work quickly for broth based soups, and I had no issues with clean up. What I did have a problem with was milk based or potato based soups. The heating element scorched these, and since we don't have a way to adjust the temperature, we are at it's mercy. Once the appliance determines that the soup is burning, it shuts off. Then the ingredients must be poured out so it can be cleaned. Then we have to wait about 30-40 minutes for it to be cooled off enough to try to cook again, only for it to be repeated. All in all, I can make broth based soup in a pot during the same amount of time, and it costs far less than the soup maker.
