First, let's recognize that it was only $12. You get what you pay for. It heats up incredibly fast and I am very impressed with that. But when it reaches its set "temperature", it shuts off completely and it doesn't seem to get around to starting up again unless you turn the dial back up. So, if you are boiling water for pasta, the pasta begins to over boil, you turn down temp.... it shuts off and stays off. Like off off. And you have to turn it back UP again to turn it back on.
