You Get What You Pay For
This product is indeed a set of dental picks in a case, at a wildly low price. They are definitely not what they claim to be, but are you really surprised at this price?
Fit and finish is fine. I worked in a dental office as a kid and spent a lot of time running scalers through the autoclave, and I will tell you these are not "professional quality." The finish and grip machining on legitimate medical instruments in the United States is much nicer. The material the tools themselves are made from is unclear, there is no marking on it anywhere. It attracts magnets strongly and my 154CM pocket knife scratches it easily. Altogether, for this price and my intended application, I am definitely satisfied with the quality of these.
The marketing of this product is pretty awful, even by Amazon standards. There's a bunch of American flags, pictures of caucasian people, and copy about being designed for Americans. OK. But this product is made in mainland China. This is disingenuous, if unsurprising. What really gets me is the silly little case. It is vinyl, but claimed to be leather. Look, we are all here browsing dirt-cheap dental scalers on Amazon, no one really expects a premium product to show up. All we want is what we were sold. So by all means, G.CATACC USA Co LTD, sell me cheap Chinese-made dental scalers in a vinyl case, that is what I am here for. But don't lie to me. That's it, G.CATACC USA Co LTD, that's the only rule. Don't lie about what you're selling. This is the line between a Chinese product offering American buyers a great value for light-duty, non-critical applications, and a seller who Amazon would probably be better off without.
Anyhow, if this is going in your toolbox, good score, you'll be pleased. If you are sticking this in your mouth, well... you do you.
