I really wanted to like this steamer. It was exactly what I was looking for. I was replacing a 2.5 year-old Oster steamer that had finally given out. Unfortunately, the very first time I steamed some veggies in it, something went wrong. Towards the end of the steaming, I noticed a weird melting plastic smell coming from the device. After it had cooled off a bit, I examined it and noticed that the center of the reservoir cover had a slight indentation. Wanting to look further, I tried to take the cover off, but it's completely stuck to the base and won't budge. Further, I noticed that the water that had collected in the cover had an oily look, probably from the melted plastic. On top of all this, the unit also left a significant amount of water underneath it while cooking. Back it goes!
