Some of the sansa's have a known problem with the wiring. Please do some other searches on the clips and you will see that the clips will eventually die because a very small wire inside becomes detached. The wire charges the battery. So the symptom is that you can connect the Sansa to the computer and it looks like all is well because it is using the USB power. However, when you disconnect, it does not turn on because the power in the battery was never recharged due to the bad wire. I had mine for about 9 months and it would not turn on. Before opening, I contacted sansa about the issue and I believed I may have the same problem. They said to send it in. For the heck of it I opened the Sansa and sure enough there was a very small wire that had come disconnected. I was able to connect it but given the size of the wire, the fix did not last long. I sent the Sansa back but they wanted to charge me something like $50 to fix it. Do the math, I did and I pointed out many others had the same problem so it was a design flaw and not a rough use situation. That didn't matter. Other than that I liked it. However, I took the $50 and put it toward a different brand and vowed not to give Sansa any more money....EVER.
