Do not purchase this item!! The Kindle fire 7 is very slow, and loaded with ransomeware. ( if you want to get rid of all the annoying adds, you can turn them off in settings, but if you do, they charge you.) You are also tied to amazon app store only so app availability is limited. For example, you cannot install google chrome browser. They just don't work well. So disappointed. My granddaughters cheap Samsung purchased a year or two ago for Christmas runs circles around the Fire. My Fire also freezes up randomly. After my review, the tech support people from Amazon contacted me. They were quite helpful in helping me with my Kindle Fire. After a complete factory reset and setup, the Kindle does run much faster. Not as good as a high end tablet, but acceptable. They also waived the fee for turning off the advertisements. There is still the issue of app availability, being tied to the Amazon marketplace. I would like an app to stream to my chrome cast device, but that is not supported. I understand they want to sell their fire tv device, but I already have a chrome cast. Again, I don't like being told what I can and cannot do with my own device. Android supports streaming to chrome cast, but Amazon does not. I will give the device 4 stars, and Amazon tech support 5 stars for caring to call and help, and Amazons policies 1.
