Horrific
I don't know where to even start with this train wreck. I bought it due to all the good reviews (at the time). I never bought into the suspicion that friends and family went and boosted book ratings with false reviews, but this book was truly something only a mother could love. The plot was about as thick as a piece of tissue, and the cliched plot devices were just beyond what I could accept. Reality has to be suspended somewhat to read fantasy, however it's like this author didn't even TRY to convince us that this was a real and logical world. Then there is the grammar, oh god, the grammar. I forgave the first word mix up - because the book was relatively cheap and self published. When every other page seemed to hold mistakes such as: Waist instead of waste, through/threw, to/two, flour/flower, and so on...and on, and on. I know second graders who know their homonyms better than this "author". You don't need to be a grammar expert to be a great writer - but you do need to get an EDITOR. If that was the only problem with the book, I guess I could say it was just laziness. Unfortunately, the author is simply not capable of putting together a believable and enjoyable story. I hate to simply write off an author after one book, however there were absolutely no redeeming qualities about this book. This, paired with what seems like a bunch of fake reviews, makes me feel like I have to be pretty harsh. Seriously. Do not believe these 4 or 5 star (actually, even the 3 star) reviews. This book is unreadable.
