Not what you think it is! Everyone else calls it Vitamin C Ester
I'm shocked that this product is still on the market. This brand is usually okay, but this is a bit outrageous. Yes, it is Vitamin C. Yes, Vitamin C is generally very good for you and it's safe! Yes, this IS a fat -soluble form of Vitamin C called ascorbyl palmitate, which you can buy from a number of vitamin brands. Yes, Liposomal *technically means* fat-soluble. But....NO, THIS IS NOT THE LIPOSOMAL C YOU HAVE BEEN HEARING ABOUT! The Liposomal C you have been hearing about is actually ascorbic acid that is suspended within a microscopic *liposomes* of special kinds of lecithin, specifically lecithin which has high levels of phosphatidylcholine. Ascorbic acid is the most potent antioxidant form of C but it is unstable and deteriorates rapidly, so by emulsifying it is these tiny blobs of "special lecithin" it is sort of like vacuum-packaging the C so it can travel in your body and stay way more active than it otherwise would. Ascorbyl palmitate is not nearly as potent a form of C as ascorbic acid, and it is not suspended in any nano-emulsion. It is a fine, fat-soluble version of C that is absorbed note slowly by your body over a longer period of time. But it is very misleading to label it Liposomal Vitamin C because it is totally different from the newly-developed formulation everyone had been talking about. And, while it's not an inexpensive substance, it is definitely WAY CHEAPER TO PRODUCE. Every other brand calls this Vitamin C Ester!
