Does not support Audible.com
My old 2nd generation Kindle, easy on the eyes, is dying. I can no longer send it my new Kindle purchases. I have a Paperwhite, and it truly does hurt my eyes to read it at night. So, I wanted a new Kindle that was easy on the eyes and that I could also listen to my Audible.com books on so I wouldn't by sucking my phone battery dry on long flights. Well, guess what? This new device can read me a book through it's mechanical accessibility voice like my old one did, but it does not support Audible.com. Thinking I was doing something incorrectly, I contacted Amazon customer service which transferred me to Audible.com customer service. Here was their response:" Thank you for that information, Anna. Let me go ahead and pull up your account first. I apologize but at this moment 8th generation kindle is not yet supported in Audible since only text to speech is available on that device." So, thanks, Amazon, for not supporting Audible on all your new devices. You should have made that clear in your comparison of Kindle devices chart. You should also make that clear when someone purchases an Audible book. Am I supposed to buy a Kindle Fire now? Heck no. I will go back to listening to Audible on my phone, which means its battery will be sucked dry on my long flights, which is what I was hoping to avoid by buying a new Kindle that was both easy on the eyes and had Audible support. Grrrr.
