Unfortunately, the remote part of this unit is very cheaply made, and the clip on the back is very loose. I had it attached to a belt while on a hike this morning, and when I went to grab it, it was gone. We backtracked for quite a ways, but we were not able to locate it, rendering the unit USELESS. I have a collar and no remote. Our dog responded well to the vibrations, but you really can't take this unit anywhere unless you hold it in your hand the entire time. I cannot recommend it for that reason.
