Not worth the money, not even a little bit!
I have been making my own nut milk for a while now. I have been using a Ninja blender and a nut milk bag. I thought that this would be nice for being able to make nut milk quickly and for my Fiancee to use. Boy was I wrong. Lets start with the looks and build of the unit. This is the best part of this thing. The unit is solidly built and has a really good feel, so no complaints there. My very first concern came when I opened it up and realized that the milk container was REALLY small, like one to two servings small. But, I decided it was worth a try. To use this thing you put water in a tank on the back, then you pop up the lid and add your nuts. The nut container is pretty small, and you cannot use very many nuts. I gave it whirl and the result was disappointing at best. Let me take a step back and tell you that I make gourmet nut milk. I use self-blanched and sprouted almonds, Hazelnuts, Macadamia nuts, and sometimes pumpkin seeds, all in one batch! Then I add Cinnamon, Nutmeg, Bee Pollen and some sweetener. Then when it is done I add a little bit of Xanthan Gum to keep it from separating and to thicken it just a touch. So lets just say that I am spoiled When I ran my first batch through this unit what came out was watery, flavorless, and full of grit! This thing doesn't separate the nut pulp at all, it just pumps it all through and it is up to you to filter it. Also, the result is HOT, it steams the nuts as it is processing it. If you are just going to add it to coffee then hot milk is fine, but if you wanted a glass of it, or to put it on cereal, forget it. But what I really couldn't get around was the amount of pulp in the resulting product! It was like someone had put sand in the stuff! If I just had to filter it, that would be one thing, but the fact that it was so watery and flavorless, it just wasn't worth it. After trying twice with two different quantities of nuts I just couldn't justify this expensive countertop weight. To have to try and filter and squeeze out the liquid from the pulp, while it was hot, no thank you. It wasn't saving any time, it wasn't making anywhere close to the quality, or quantity, that I wanted. So I cleaned it up and shipped it back, happy to have it out of my kitchen!
