This fruit fly trap is a total waste of money. It simply doesn't work (for our flies). I put it up for two days and caught one fruit fly. I have been trying various types of vinegar and juice with disappointing results - but I think I finally landed on the right stuff. A couple of days ago I filled a bowl about 1/2" full of balsamic vinegar mixed with water with a drop of dish soap on top. The picture speaks for itself. I caught 30 flies in it in one day. I also put one outside and there are probably 50 in that one. I bought this product because I figured they had done some research and had an attractant that was better than mine. They haven't - it seems like it's just red wine vinegar, which doesn't work as well as the balsamic and water mix. Don't ask me why the flies prefer the expensive stuff.
