Had this air purifier for all of 4 months. I was desperate to get an air purifier at the time because my allergies were so bad I was going several nights with little to no sleep. I had researched obsessively as I always do but a big hindrance was my budget which could only allow for $200 or less. Enter Coway... Worked immediately for my allergies but even from day one I noticed how loud it got when it was working on max speed. I delt with the noise since it helped clear the air until a few days ago it turned on as it does since it's on auto. It ramped up to max speed where it was loud as usual. A few moments later it started shaking violently, smoking and soon after started shooting out plastic shards through the top vent. It wouldn't stop until we had to unplug it. Scary situation especially when this happens around my pregnant wife. To compound the issue I tried contacting Coway about this with zero response. Then I tried contacting Amazon and and they had to tell me is that they couldn't help because it's already been 4 months. So now what do I do? I'm stuck $180 paperweight. You get what you pay for. You can get cheaper air purifiers without an auto setting but if you want the auto sensing feature pay more and get a quality unit.
