Such player. Much function. Wow.
Bought the first one. Required firmware update. Okay, I thought. Connected it to Wi-Fi and downloaded update no problem. Restarts and says it's now updating the firmware. Great I think. Gets to about 26% then stops. After a while, says it failed. Says insert USB with update and or try again via Internet (and to contact Sony support if it fails again) which it did, over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over. Finally, I try the USB. Can't find it apparently because it keeps trying via wireless. Okay, so I hit "Cancel" thinking maybe it will let me start over. Wrong! Player restarts itself, flashes briefly to the usual Blu-Ray start-up screen, then goes black and stays there. Okay, I thought, maybe it just needs time. When that seemed to fail, I went with the old tried and true pushing the power button. Didn't do anything. Power button doesn't respond, remote doesn't work. So, unplugged it, because that's the final hope for all frozen machinery, right? Well, not this apparently, Did the same thing again (brief flash then dark), and again, and so on and so forth. So, returned it thinking my player must just be faulty. Amazon was great, as usual, and promptly sent me a replacement. Arrived two days later. I'm hopeful, but I should know better. Literally the exact same thing happens (froze at 26% again as well, oddly enough). Process repeats itself, but I'm not dumb enough to keep up the cycle. First and second both get mailed back on Tuesday, I get a refund instead of a replacement this time, and Sony loses a customer.
