So you’re thinking of buying a Reolink Argus PT...........DON’T!! 👎🏼👎🏼👎🏼
Stay clear of this camera!!
I have owned one of these cameras for just under a year and it has been disappointing. More so, though, Reolink support is not only highly disappointing but absurd. I have contacted them twice regarding the unstable WiFi connectivity and all they do is point to my WiFi network as the culprit. I had a pretty decent network to start with, but in order to try to improve signal strength after the first reply from Reolink putting blame on my network I purchased some power line extenders which did improve my signal. This should have been sufficient for a camera that was only 20 ft from one extender (so much for put it anywhere, no way with this camera). No change, still unstable and unable to give me 1080p or fluent consistently. The camera was connected to a solar panel so the battery was always charged, plenty of Texas sun.
When it does work it’s not all bad except for slow motion detection and PTZ. The video, if it gets close to 2 Mbps, is of good quality. Too bad it rarely got and stayed there.
I recently upgraded my WiFi with an Eero mesh and the signal strength is superb. With the Argus PT sitting in my house a mere 10 ft from an Eero satellite it connected to my network but still wouldn’t reach the “required 2 Mbps” as stated by Reolink to achieve 1080p. Even sitting right next to the satellite it can’t do it. It still won’t even sustain “Fluent” mode. 😏
I contacted Reolink once again, no surprise they are still trying to blame my network. 😠 All I asked for was a new camera with hope there has been some improvements made. I do have a 2-year warranty, right?! That’s all bluster, they have no intention of acknowledging I have a bad camera and replacing it. The irony to this, I have a Reolink Lumus in my patio that has no issues on my network. Connects great, 1080p video pops up quickly and is very crisp. Go figure! But I have a bad network, remember? Hard not to be sarcastic given Reolink’s lack of help on both occasions I’ve asked for resolution.
Really, save yourselves your hard earned bucks and look elsewhere.
