Very Poor design
Please do not use this seat. I am a certified child passenger safety technician for several years and often asked for portable travel and taxi boosters. I was excited about this because I respect Graco. It's not even a small seat. Its hardly smaller than the turbo booster and much too big to put in hand luggage or a school bag and it weighs 4lb. However, I am absolutely horrified by this seat. I have discussed this at conferences with other Techs and when I explain why I don't like it they all agree with me. I have attached some photos and you will see the two issues I have with the thin red pop up belt guides that make this very dangerous in my opinion. First, the belt guides are thin and leave a huge gap between the side of the child and the guide. This make the lap belt loose even when you remove slack. There is a gaping space where the child can easily submarine and slip under the belt leading to horrific injuries. Just for this I cannot recommend it. But there is a much worse problem. Belt guides on other boosters are also arm rests and are wide and padded. These belt guides are thin and hard. They are actually metal covered with some thin plastic. Look at the girl in the photo when she leans over. It digs hard in to her side. Just imagine how much damage this could do if the child is forced sideways in a collision and the guide is impaled into her side. How can this be an acceptable design. For a little bit more money there are truly portable seats on Amazon. Sorry Graco, I bought two of these and they are just not good and I think potentially very dangerous.
