This works great when you have a raging fire and smoke already burning down your house! Yeah this is a potentially family killer. My friend blew smoke into it, around it, through it and it didn't do anything. He took a deeper breathe off his cigar and blew again. Still nothing. My friends asked "is the battery connected"? I press the "TEST" button and it starts to beep and beep and beep. Finally after it stopped doings it's "TEST" beeps. We lit a piece of paper towel right in the kitchen sink and tried blowing out the paper towel and the fire we caused trying to get this smoke alarm to detect smoke. Finally we blew out the fire on the paper towel and rightly so we baptized that smoke alarm with the now smoking paper towel. My friend had already decided that this smoke alarm was not too par. And I who had bought this it the first place. Feeling guilty that I was the one who "PURCHASED" this potentially family killer. And the battery was connection didn't stay connected. The 9-Volt Battery was a slide in...and not a firm connection to the power. This smoke alarm is so bad that I rather throw it away than donate it to poor family who would probably die if they were dependent on this smoke alarm.
