It charges fine -- but ONLY ONE DEVICE AT A TIME, ***NOT*** TWO
The 10-second answer to your question is: PRO: Yes, this charger absolutely *does* take advantage of Samsung's "Super Fast Charging" CON: It allows for charging only *one* device at a time, *not two* ----- Want the details? Just for a moment, let's talk about Samsung's "Super Fast Charging." The phones in the Galaxy S20 series and S21 series (among others) have a proprietary battery-charging protocol developed by Samsung -- and it's super-fast, which is great. it's unfortunate, though, that Samsung chose to name it "Super Fast Charging," because that makes it pretty easy to conflate "Super Fast Charging" (i.e., Samsung's proprietary charging process) and "super-fast charging" (i.e., a vernacular way of saying that the charging is speedy). So, when someone (this someone, in particular, for example) wants to find out which chargers support "Super Fast Charging," the someone might Google, say, "Super Fast Charging," and be faced with a zillion examples of other someones' discussing how super-fast their chargers work. You see this, right? The fact that the sentences "This charger supports Super Fast Charging" and "Wow, this charger is super-fast" sound pretty much the same? Sure. Of course you do. Because you're a sensible person. And, if only you worked at Samsung, perhaps the teams responsible for creating the naming conventions used in labeling new charging processes would have used – at your urging -- common sense, and called the new-fangled method "Glitztastic Charging," or something. But, you don't. And, so, they weren't. And didn't. And therein lies the problem: If your phone supports "Super Fast Charging," then you want a charger which supports it, because it's a pretty nifty little feature. But *every* manufacturer insists that its chargers are "really fast" or "amazingly fast" or -- wait for it -- "super-fast." And, again: super-fast charging isn't necessarily "Super Fast Charging." In fact, almost *no* chargers support "Super Fast Charging," and, as far as this reviewer is aware (and this reviewer spent a lot of time researching this), this is the *only* car charger which supports "Super Fast Charging." Yes, it actually does support "Super Fast Charging." The S21 Ultra says "Super fast charging" when connected to this charger, and seems to charge more rapidly with this charger than with any other. And that's a good thing. But... SAMSUNG ADVERTISES THIS CHARGER AS BEING SUITABLE FOR CHARGING TWO PHONES AT THE SAME TIME, EVEN THOUGH IT ISN'T! There’s no complexity, here: the charger is sold as being capable of charging two devices at the same time, but the manufacturer (which is also the seller, in this case), in its own “Quick Start Guide,” advises, “[C]harging multiple devices simultaneously can lead to temporary current and voltage surges, which can cause a situation, such as overheating or vehicle short circuit. It may cause a fire or burn symptoms.” (See photo, above) Now, this is a point of personal preference, but I like my chargers and my burn symptoms to be sold separately. The thing is, that doesn’t matter, because, again: this is the only car charger which supports “Super Fast Charging,” so, if you want to use “Super Fast Charging” in your car, you need to own (or rent or borrow) one of these chargers, notwithstanding the fact that you might also like to charge two devices simultaneously. Is this an enormous lie? Sure. Is that lie propagated in big, bold letters, while the description of the risk of fire is buried in a 2-point typeface at the bottom of page 5 of a manual which spans more than 100 pages, and is written using more than 20 languages? (These numbers are accurate, btw.) Yes. Are we surprised? No. No, we are not surprised. Anyhoo, that’s why I gave it a 5-star rating for “Charging power,” but only 1 star for “value for money” – because, to my mind, the value is diminished almost entirely by the lie. So: Yes, this charger is pretty fast, mighty fast, impressively fast and really fast. And, yes, it also supports “Super Fast Charging.” But it comes gilded in what my mother refers to as “untruths.” Still, it’s the only one which does what you want it to do. So buy it. But then gripe about it. And bemoan the erosion of trust in online commerce (if you think trust ever existed there). In fact, spend hours seething rage, writing a snarky review filled with left-handed compliments. That’s what I do. And it seems to work for me.
