Updated: What you see is NOT what you get...
I was hesitant about getting these to start from seed. Although there are green thumbs in the family, they’re not on me. I’m not saying these were easy; they definitely required some attentive care. Still, I was successful in getting these started. I bought 4 varieties, and planted about 1/2 of each packet (about 50 seeds each), HOPING a few would grow. Ultimately I had 86 germinate and sprout. Because I hadn’t planted them completely individually, I had to cull pods which had 4 or 5 successfully sprouts down to 1. I moved them to a larger pot for more growth and they are overdue to be in the ground. I’m working on that now, but trying to find enough space to plant the 40 or so I still have to go. I’m very glad I tried this.
UPDATE: While the first bloom that opened is nice, it was none of the varieties that I purchased. I have blooms forming and will update again if any do match, but I suspect I have only received a random variety and not those shown in the photos of each purchase.
Update #2: I’ve now had 8 different bloom colors and NONE were what I purchased. They were actually dahlias and grew and bloomed, but I might as well have ordered wildflowers and scattered them around. It feels a bit like ordering the blue sports wagon and getting the family truckster.
