I did a comparison test - JNW vs AquaChek - using Taylor chemicals as baseline
When I purchased JNW brand I also bought AquaChek strips, which I’ve regularly used for many years. Found that JNW are cheaply made, very hard to read (compared to other strips) and inaccurate, at least for me. I compared readings of JNW and AquaChek strips to results using a Taylor chemical test kit. Oddly, JNW agreed with ph and chlorine (total and free) but gave wildly different readings for hardiness (JNW=25ppm, AquaCheq=225, Taylor=225) and total alkalinity (JNW=>200, AquaCheq=120, Taylor=120). I’ve been taking daily readings since I opened my pool and these differences have been more or less consistent after 7 days. Updated July 9: The results described above have remained consistent for almost 1 month. Conclusion: I don’t trust JNW for hardiness or total alkalinity tests.
