I needed to replace a six year old Waring fryer that I loved. From the moment I opened the box I knew the DF280 was a vastly inferior machine. I imagine that in order to save money Waring eliminated some of important features of the older machine. There are no filters under the vents in the top cover to minimize odors. They also eliminated a hook inside the oil container from which the frying basket could be suspended for storage. Now the basket (and regrettably a part of the handle) sit in the oil. Sadly Waring sacrificed its quality to keep the price down.
