I purchased this GasOne stove and 8 GasOne butane tanks last spring to use outside at my patio and for football tailgating. Looked at several models on Amazon and thought this was of decent quality and would be perfect for portable use. Very lightweight and not much to the construction of it. The butane canisters look like hairspray cans from the 1960's. Worked fine a couple times at home and at a tailgate party. At the second tailgate outing I placed it on a small aluminum table about 16" x 16" by 16" high and cooked on it for over 30 minutes using a 12" fry pan. When the food was done, I fortunately cut off the flame and began serving from the pan still sitting on the burner. Suddenly the butane tank exploded (no flame) blowing the grill into many pieces and the tank into two pieces. The exploding tank shot out of the grill hitting my knee and eventually landed 30' away. Some of the grill parts were found over 100' away. Within several seconds after the shock of the explosion we realized a lady a few feet behind me had been hit in the face/head by one of the exploding parts. Fortunately she was wearing sun glasses. The part grazed her cheek, made a vertical scratch across her glasses lens and made a 3" long cut to her forehead and scalp. The sunglasses saved her eye. She was taken by ambulance to the hospital for X-rays and stitches. The city and campus police, plus the fire marshal investigated for over an hour. After reading the operating instructions and examining the damaged parts, the fire marshal determined that I had operated the grill properly per the instructions and had done nothing wrong. He bagged up the parts and said that he would be filing a report on the manufacturer. The lady that was injured considered legal action but was very grateful no one else was injured and left it at that. I imagine bringing legal action against a product made in China would be difficult. It was a very shocking event for everyone. There were a dozens of people within range of the explosion and four people standing within 5' at the time. Amazingly and luckily no one else was injured. My knee/shin had a nasty bruise, shaped like the round end of the canister, for 10 days. Amazon refunded my money on the grill and gave me a gift credit. It still didn't take away the anguish that my grill hurt someone else and could easily have caused serious injuries or worse, to others around me. If you buy this product use at your own risk and don't subject others to injury. I also have 6 full butane tanks I don't know what to do with.
