BEWARE of Fake Birkenstocks
The threat of buying fake Birkenstocks is always out there. As the attached photos show between the black (fake) and brown (real) pair, one can see the differences. The black leather is clearly thinner and less supple ("full grain leather" at best rather than Birkenstock "top grain"), the footbeds aren't Birkenstock and packaging aren't Birkenstock (though convincing at quick glance): compare the footbed printing, product tags, and Birkenstock watermark on the real Birks v. the gray paper included with the fakes. Since real soft bed Birkenstocks cost $135, it's perhaps no surprise that fake versions would saturate the market.
