Raining lemons - case of the dreaded yellow tint x 3
It's not with joy or happiness that I find myself writing this review. Rather, it's with intense disappointment and frustration. When I buy an Amazon product, I'm buying a brand name "Amazon" with the assurance of great products, superb customer service, and the desire to satisfy customers. What I have experienced in the last week would be the absolute opposite of what I had expected. I currently have a Kindle Touch, which is far beyond its years but still working perfectly. With the release of the Kindle Voyage I found a worthy replacement for it, one with a front lit screen and something that I have missed very much: page turns. Granted the price tag was higher than the other Kindles, but I felt it was worth a big upgrade since I had a 3 year old Kindle. I did see all these reviews on Amazon warning of the dreaded yellow tint on the top third of the screen. I thought maybe I'd be lucky. Wow was I wrong. Whether it's because the product was rushed out, or if I just happened to get 3 lemons, I'll never know. First, my Kindle Voyage arrived last week and immediately I knew I won the lemon lottery. I passed the Kindle around to a few of my friends and all of them noticed the yellow tint on the top third of the screen. Super. Maybe a replacement won't be this bad? With my 2nd Kindle Voyage I had a looming feeling that this just was not going to work out no matter how many I went through. The 2nd one was even worse than the 1st. I didn't know it was possible but the tint was even worse on this one. Trying to reign in my frustration I thought let me try one last time. Maybe third time is the charm? The 3rd Kindle Voyage arrived yesterday and it's with immense frustration that I have to say while it's probably the best of the 3 it still suffers from the dreaded yellow tint. I thought maybe I could just live with it. But why should I? This is an elite level ereader that I spent $200 on and waited weeks for. I won't make it that easy for Amazon, I have a high standard for your products and I really should not have to settle. Now, throughout the customer service process I have been told a few times that this is how the product is. No. That's not true and it's deeply irresponsible for the customer service rep to pass the buck back to me as the customer. I know full well there are those out there that have gotten good Kindle Voyages. Now it might be a bad batch of production but as a consumer I do not know that. I only know what my research has told me, that this is unusual and unacceptable. I still have all 3 Kindle Voyages in my house and I'm going to send them all back next week. I lined them all up next to each other on max brightness and it was very obvious how bad my luck was. Now my frustration has reached the point where I just want a refund. Ideally, I'd love a Kindle Voyage that is actually the proper color throughout, but I guess it's raining lemons.
