unlike former Kohler soft close seats, these seats come off much to easily! My wife put here foot up on it to dry her leg after a shower and fell, injuring herself, when the seat popped out of it's detachable mounting clips. I have installed several of these seats and know what I'm doing. The plastic mount/detach clips are inferior to models of several years ago. I love quite close toilet seats, however Kohler would be wise to manufacture these with a permanent mount hinge and not the easy detach/reattach clips! UPDATE 10/29/15 BUYER BEWARE !! If you have older people in your household or folks that are handicapped in any way, even temporarily by surgery. Kohler is begging for law suits with the poorly designed Black attach/detach Black plastic Retainers. They are literally an accident waiting to happen. After a recent Back surgery my wife sat straight down on the seat and it literally slid off to the side. Luckily it was on the side next to the wall so she avoided reinjury or tearing out the surgery that had just been done. Kohler's adding the grip tight bumpers is a joke, because the seat still slid unlike the older Model K-4636 that came with the Kohler Cimmaron comfort hight toilet that we purchased 2 of for a remodel. The K-4636 had wider and differently designed attach/detach black plastic Retainers that held the seat on much better! Kohler really should take this one back to the drawing boards.
