Avoid this light, terrible design, see the pics!
Okay, so I bought 4 of these to replace some 15 year old 100 watt metal halide lights in a lobby that were in bad shape. The transformers and the wiring was falling apart due to years of UV exposure, and it would have been over $100 to replace the guts of each of these lights. I've used numerous LED fixtures before but I went with this one as it was shallow enough to allow me to retrofit the current lights by simply removing the insides and lens of the old fixtures and this new light fit inside them with no modifications to the LED light. Put out a great white light and everything looked great.
2 months after installing it one of the 4 lights starts flashing on and off, figured well I was bound to have a defective one at some point, so I ordered a replacement and figured I'd see what went wrong in this light after I swapped it. New light is in, and working but after taking apart the old one I'm wondering how long till the others fail, I noticed two of the others have turned a very blueish purple hue. Meanwhile the light that failed I took it to my bench and disassembled it. The LED and the mount for them were fine, but before I took it apart I saw a liquid dripping down the insides of the glass. Turns out the power supply they used in these is a disaster waiting to happen. The wires going into it, and out of it were so dried out and hard that the insulation cracked off as soon as I tried to bend them. I figured the oily liquid was going to be a dead capacitor, but actually the oil came from a grey silicon like material that they completely filled the inside of the power supply with. I'm not sure if this was their attempt to make the power supply more water resistant but it likely acts as an insulator overheating the components of the power supply, and as it got hot it caused it to leak out the oily substance. I've never had issues handling oils or solvents with my bare hands though I try to avoid it, but this substance starting to make my skin feel like it was burning within five minutes of touching it as I took it apart.
The power supply is rated at 28-32 volts DC at 3 amps. Not sure if it killed the led's too, but I plan to test them and see. I've never seen such an awful design of a power supply. Don't buy this light, given how hard and crispy the insulation was, I'd would be afraid of a short in the fixture and I'm not sure how flammable that grey material is. Due to the construction it is impossible to repair the power supply, it would have to be replaced. At least the LED's have braided high temp wiring to them that appears unscathed.
