In reading Bad to the Bones, by James Harper, a lot to learn in his writing.
Bad to the Bones, by James Harper, is a self published novel. Mr. Harper has a lot to learn about writing. At least in my opinion, reading of his first book. Some sections are excellent, yet others I sit back and re-read perhaps two or three times. I do this because I cannot follow the chain of thought! Evan Buckley, a PI, is hired to check on a gentleman's wife. He believes she is cheating on him. Okay, she is and Buckley takes photos of the wife and her lover in the nude. It is the means of entering the motel room that just does not fit. Buckley seems to be like a nineteen year old in practice to become a PI. There is a section of where Buckley is beaten, and by the description given, badly. He goes to the hospital for treatment for his injuries. I cannot say in every state, but the ER in any hospital must contact law enforcement as to this beating and the treatment given. I know, it is the writer's privilege to write as she or he wants. There are other sections that are confusing. The train of thought goes no where. I'm sorry Mr. Harper, this novel just does not "grab" me. Rated over 18. Some strong language and sexual content. DP.
