Great way to lower the temp of your whisky. By about 1°.
Yes, I'm aware they aren't designed to do the job of ice cubes. Teroforma Whisky Stones are designed to ever so slightly (but not imperceptibly!) lower the temperature of your 74° Scotch to a significantly more enjoyable 72.5°. Or something. Anyway, according to the reviewers with tongues of mercury, they do a great job of that! So if you're the kinda pipe-smoking sport who can tell the difference, then hooray for you, Professor Tweedbeard. Here's your $20 rocks.
On the other hand, here are some other things you might consider trying for the same results, a few of which might even be detectable by average humans.
- A glass that has been in the fridge for 1 minute
- Blowing slightly on the inside of your glass
- Placing your bottle of Scotch in the freezer, closing the door, then opening the door and taking it back out again
- Lowering the A.C. in your house (may take longer)
- Not storing your MacCallan 18 in a warm place like your orchid house, sauna, or indoor conservatory
- Getting "common" rocks out of your yard, rinsing them off, putting them in the freezer, taking them out, throwing them back in the yard and using some icecubes.
