★☆☆☆☆
Way over hyped.
Had high hopes but found it consistently shallow and lacking in any analysis. Didn't need to read it to discover that poverty and lack of education is a recipe for disaster. My bet is we all grew up with some of the same issues that the author experienced. Divorce, manual labour, parents who yelled at each other and substance abuse are fairly common issues most people have had to deal with in some measure. Other than his military service which is admirable, Vance comes off as a bit of a whiner. No revelations in this book. A complete waste of $15.
