Don’t waste your time
I HATED this book! The author is a good writer, but an awful storyteller. Even if the book had been shortened by 400 pages (this could easily have been done), the characters were so unlikable. The main character just continues to make bad choice after bad choice, with absolutely no appreciation for anything good in his life. There were opportunities for redemption, and I’m not sure why the author did not pursue them. I cannot fathom how she could have been compared to Charles Dickens. His characters were noble and continued to grow throughout his stories. Hers, on the other hand, continued to get wasted, and spent a fair amount of time vomiting. There was nothing redeeming about this book at all and I’m just mad at myself for wasting my time.
