Your cover is defective if you have the following problems: - Frozen screen - where the only fix is to perform a hard reboot - Kindle inexplicably reboots itself - Unusual, and rapid, battery drain - Kindle loses track of what page you are on - Kindle resorts your books, or forgets your folders The problem is that the covers WITHOUT the built-in light short out the kindle 3 by the metal prong's paint coating wearing off and shorting out the wire designed to draw power for the cover WITH a light. Horrible purchase and as a Peace Corps volunteer a problem with my Kindle is nothing short of catastrophic.
