How this movie made a billion plus dollars at the box office is beyond me. I sat in the movie theater and couldn't wait for this film to end. A friend of mine said he walked out with his daughter. They both despised this film, and so did I. Here are the flaws of the film: 1. Awful plot 2. Unlikable lead 3. No style 4. Horrible make-up Lets break it down further. The plot was muddy, and had serious pacing issues. There were tons of times I sat there in boredom and just wanted it to end. The script and directors had a hard time making her hidden past mysterious. On top of that, the main character isn't even likable. She was so wooden, and off putting that I sat there praying she would NEVER find out about her past. I just wanted to her to suffer. She was SNARKY up and down like there was no tomorrow. How does one root for the underdog when the underdog/lead isn't even likable? I really think she has PMS throughout the whole film, and no one told her people on earth use maxi pads. I think the directors didn’t know what to do with her and wanted her to be a bad azz simultaneously so they just asked her to be sarcastic and off putting, which I guess equals bad azz and cool. NOT! The directors really treated her like Hilary Clinton and wanted everyone to dislike her. It shows! This film had absolutely no style at all. It was poorly shot and goes to show that 2 directors were at the helm. Just messy and all over the place, and once again, serious pacing issues. I really wanted to walk out, but I refused because I paid for a ticket. Where did the big budget go to? It surely didn’t go to giving this film any style. Next, lets talk about the make-up. The make up on the Skrulls looks ridiculous. It makes people wonder where the money on the budget went (most likely people illegally pocketed it). This is TV show make-up. How is it in 2019 that anyone can do such bad make-up? It boggles the mind. Lets talk about consistency. There isn’t any. Captain marvel will be fighting someone in one scene and immediately in the next shot, while in the same fight scene, she all of sudden has curly waves in her hair? WHAT???!! How did she have time to use a curling iron in under 1 second to curl her hair? It was flat and lifeless 2 seconds prior and then 2 seconds later – it is curly? OMG! An Asian actress only had 1 line in the film before she gets shot and dies. Really???!! Listen, this isn’t a Marvel/DC thing. I like both. I would suggest Wonder Woman over this film. Hell, even Catwoman was better than this. There are better Marvel films out there and this isn’t one of them. The best part of the film was when her friend Maria Rambo showed up. She added some depth to the film and brought an emotional connection, but the audience didn’t even get a lot of her. So sad when a side character makes the entire film more interesting. The only reason it made money was because it had a tie in to Avengers 4. AWFUL! Just avoid at all cost.
