Overpriced and Under Delivers...
Yes, it is for kids, but it is as basic as can be. And for the low price of $100! My daughter (age 12) loves tracking her activity so I wanted to upgrade the old, worn unit she had been using. While its 'cute', it is definitely designed for younger children. I would buy an adult Garmin unit if it would fit my daughter's wrist instead of this one. You must sync this with a free App to manage the device features and be near the device to perform the sync. I'm not sure how this will work ongoing when she begins to wear/use it. The display is tiny, strain your eyes tiny, and dim to the point that it is difficult to see. The 'backlight' function is comical as it barely makes the screen any more visible. I'm going to allow my daughter to try it for a couple days, but I expect to send this back and search for something that is more capable. Honestly, this device shouldn't sell for more than $40 tops.
Update: 1/17/2018
So initially she was excited and wore it daily, even to sleep sometimes to track her sleeping time. We set up the App with some chores, alarms, reminders, etc. and again, she tracked it for a while. The Disney 'story' that is the reward in the App for meeting goals (chores, activity) was very uninspiring, with nothing more than a 'move' in the story and stating to keep working to get another move. That was it. No cool feature or built-in game to play, just a carrot to entice another move. She has owned it now for approximately 3 months and has hardly worn it or cared for it in the last 4-5 weeks unless I ask her about it. Again, for a younger child, it may be a win but for my experience, I should have purchased something else.
