Let me just start by saying I have no idea why this colander has such a high rating. A colander has one job, which is to allow water to drain from whatever you place into it. Does this task seem complicated? No. Does this colander transform what should be a simple task into an impossible, near-Sisyphean endeavor? Well, read on to see. When attempting to use this colander to drain water from some spinach, I found there remained a significant layer of water at the bottom of the colander, try as I might to shake it around to drain the offending liquid. It was as if this colander had suddenly gotten tired of its day job (being a colander) and decided to moonlight as a bowl. It also feels important to discuss the number of holes that this colander has on its bottom, which is 34. One should not be able to so easily count the number of holes a colander has on the bottom, because it should be a very high number, because that is the point of a colander. It is also essential to point out, as one may be able to note from the picture, that there is significant space between the bottom holes and the side holes, rendering the side holes nothing more than ornamentation, as there is no way that water can or would drain out of them. To prove just how ineffective this colander is at being a colander, I measured out half a tablespoon of water, poured it into the colander, swished it around, and then poured the remaining water back into the measuring spoon. Reader, I am being completely honest when I tell you that the remaining water nearly filled the measuring spoon all the way up to the top. Upon deep self-reflection, my plight at having to come to own this sorry excuse for a "colander" may in some ways be what I deserve for purchasing a ten dollar colander from Amazon. I know this review might read as a joke, but the only joke is this colander. I implore you to spend your money elsewhere.
