I love Alerons work. I have read the prior seven books far too many times and I was staying up on New Year’s Eve just so that I could once again experience the joy of Richter pwning his enemies. But after waiting on pins and needles for this book like my son on Christmas morning I was devastated. There is no real substance to this book. No real plot. Richter gets some upgrades and we get a stat recap of the last book. I found less than 20% of the book interesting and worth my time. The rest was filler. It was like watching the filler seasons of bleach but worse. I started to SKIM! I hate skimming it feels like such a sin. I was thoroughly let down by this and put off.
