Sad - Does not work because of ridiculous HDCP DRM Requirement
Sadly Criterion has implemented the ridiculous and unfair requirement that my 3 year old Samsung TV be HDCP DRM compliant. I have spent many hours in the last 24 trying to figure it out. I do not understand why this is being required. It seems like my options are: # 1 Dump Criterion # 2 Try to stream it via a PC connected to my TV (Iffy at best) # 3 Dump my perfectly good TV and buy a new HDCP compliant TV. It's an example of an industry standard that has no regard of the end user or the environment . It's clearly some planned obsolescence for manufacturers to increase their bottom line. Why is this silly standard being thrust on consumers ? Are they really afraid I might copy a movie made in 1951 and mass produce it and sell it? We live in a crazy world where corporate ententes rule and consumers are treated as Pond Scum. I think I will go back to reading books in the evenings or play my old DVD's. I was sooo.. looking forward to Criterion after Filmstruck was cancelled because of another corporate greed example.
