This charger will not charge a MacBook Pro. I bought this specifically for that purpose, so my rating is based solely on that issue. As you can see from photos, this charger is smaller than the Apple charger, which is great! I was very happy with the size, weight, and feel of it. But when I plugged in my MacBook Pro 13" M1 (A2338), my Mac saw power, but it would not charge the battery at all, ever. I've included two screen captures of the Power section of the System Report -- first one is with the Apple charger, and second is with the Amazon Basics charger. Note that the Amazon Basics charger does not tell the host anything about it, and this is probably why the Mac won't charge. Note that I also tried this charger with two different USB-C cables, and got the same result. I also tried this charger on an older model MacBook Pro (2018 model), and that also would not charge. Power, yes -- charge, no. So, if you only want this for charging your phone, go for it. Otherwise, STAY CLEAR of this charger. Edit: Seems photos are out of order. Hopefully you can figure out which is which. Also, I should add that I contacted Amazon and they very helpfully offered to send me a replacement charger (on the assumption that the first one I received was defective). I took them up on that, and tested with the replacement charger -- same story. Still, cannot charge a MacBook Pro. This was not a defective single item -- it's a flaw in the design. You have been warned.
