We purchased this blender to fix my 11 month old daughter her yogurt & fruit smoothies. After just 6 months of use, the blades shattered when blending bananas and yogurt (it was pretty scary finding pieces of blade in my daughters food!). I contacted customer service and they acknowledged it was probably a defective unit but I would have to pay for shipping both ways, that's about 80% of the cost of a new blender. Never again Cuisinart!
