Rusted badly
I used this kettle daily for about 2 years before it rusted, fortunately, it falls within the Le Creuset 5 year warranty on kettles so I have reached out to them about the issue. It was never put in the dishwasher or used improperly so I was quite disappointed that the enamel must have worn away simply from daily use. I was willing to pay the price in order to have a product that would last a long time. My grandmother has had Le Creuset products that have lasted her whole adult life, so I was hoping for similar quality when paying this much for a kettle. For me, this kettle does not have any exceptional feature or aesthetic that would make it worth the price for only 2 years of use. Admittedly, I previously owned a Le Creuset kettle that I did put in the dishwasher and voided the warranty - I blamed myself for believing the product could withstand the treatment and did not reach out to the company. This time, I was much more cautious so I was quite disappointed when this happened. One might wonder how I let it get this bad... it seemed to happen all of the sudden, but I'm not sure how often I inspected for rust. The rust is quite obvious in these photos when fully dry and held in the sunlight at and angle, but it's much harder to see the edges with direct overhead light from the stove, you only see the center. Also, the rust is less orange when damp from morning & evening use.
