I purchased this because it was stainless steel. The first time I boiled water in it, the stainless got discolored and the water was brown after boiling (see photo). Not sure if this is just really poor quality stainless or what. But I bought it so I didn't have a bunch of plastic chemicals leeching into my water and if the stainless gets discolored and makes my water brown, that kinda defeats the purpose. I am returning this today. It is really unfortunatel because I think this product meets a need for a lot of folks. It is just really poorly made. If Bonavita ever comes out with a higher quality version, I hope they contact me.
