When we purchased this heater. we did so after diligent research and the need to reduce our carbon footprint. It costs much more than the standard hot water heater. Purchasing an American Made product was also our motivation. To maintain jobs in this country and support companies that provide service. When it did work it worked well. The demand to provide 16 visitors with hot water upon request during a holiday season was fantastic. Now for the real review... The heater was in need of service within less than six months after purchase. It had been serviced with parts delivered next day to our home at least 3 times . Ironically, it never dawned on me that this GE-GeoSpring Hybrid Hot water heater would cause so many issues for the $1600 it costs. The heater has just made 3 years this past April. I can't believe the fact that this heater required servicing 7 times in 3 years. The same serviceman came and stated it may be time for a new one. The last service call was in June, unfortunately it took GE until August to schedule and arrive. (NOTE: we have now been without hot water for 3 weeks!!) The service person took the top off to find the entire inside burnt away. I was somewhat shocked since this could have caused a major issue and damage to our property. Upon hearing the serviceman's conversation with loss department, he was informed that the unit would be replaced. We were awaiting information on the installation date when I was informed by Robert G from GE that the unit will not be replaced and we will be responsible for a service call fee. Knowing that we waited almost 2 weeks for service and have had no hot water, I informed this representative that we will NOT be paying for a service call as there has been NO service Requesting information with regard to what is the resolve.. I was met with a nasty tone and informed that it will not be replaced and that this is a non- issue for them I would not recommend anyone to purchase any GE HYBRID or standard heaters as the company doesn't stand behind their products. I will not abandon my allegiance to purchasing American Made Products but will not support or advocate or promote GE products.
