First off let me start this by saying I have owned several other air purifiers, and understand about white noise. I purchased the flex for the bedroom after reading about Alen. It arrived today and the packaging was ok. I opened the box, installed the filter, and plugged it in. I cycled through the speeds and immediatey smelled a chemical type smell. I then noticed on fan speed 2 the motor would slightly rev up and down causing the device to make a very annoying whine noise. I then read the smell is an ongoing issue. Something I also learned was Alen filters are not true HEPA. They are not even rated as HEPA, and there is no AHAM rating. I already boxed this piece of junk back up and will be sending it back to amazon tomorrow. What a waste of 400 dollars. Lesson learned I guess. With this company you don’t get what you pay for. I should also add that I called the company for help and had to leave a voicemail that is yet to be returned. Find another reputable company that is true HEPA!
