I always go with Lasko for my pedestal fans and actually use them year round. I love the white noise and cool breeze in the winter and of course for air circulation and cooling in the summer months. My mistake was that when I read pedestal fan for this one I did not check how high it actually raised. I have bought many from Lasko over the years and they all raised high. This one raises only 47 inches and the 47 inch mark is actually the top of the actual fan grill. This is like a mini floor fan. It is tiny. It comes with a remote that works well thank goodness for the manual buttons are very low down on the fan and not easily accessible. I still have a Lasko pedestal fan I am using that is also a 16 inch and the difference in quality, durability and performance between the two is striking in a bad way. This 1646 is made all around of very thin plastic. The thinness of the plastic the blade is made of helps the fan put out almost no quality air.. I did find this fan easy to assemble and ran it next to my older fan. That one has been tried and true and on the second level the fan is powerful and really hits me. With the 1646 I barely feel it. I laid on my bed with the 1646 on and it did nothing for me. I am really surprised at the lessening of quality with Lasko with this fan. Some may say you get what you pay for but my other Lasko was in the same price range. If you want a small in size pedestal fan that provides minimal white noise and gentle air flow this may suit you. Honestly my mini desk fan puts out more air. So if you are looking for a fan to help you through the warm and hot weather months this is not the fan. With the lack of quality in the plastic it just is not capable. So not just that I was not a fan of the design. This fan just does not do as it advertises. And lastly and most important the pedestal pole when inserted in the base does not stay in place. I know how to install it. I did it with my other fan. But it will not get securely in place. So every time I went to turn the knob for the height adjustment everything turned. Just cheaply made. I had to return it.
