Should have been called Two Riversdale
This is going to be a bit long, so I will TL:DR up front and say that the only way this will be enjoyable is if you view it as a generic fantasy series with names similar to the WoT.
That said, I will try to avoid the issues mentioned by others though I agree wholeheartedly with the criticisms raised in the other reviews. First, the Two Rivers does not remotely match the geography of the book. It doesn't even match the geography of the interactive map that *Amazon* has attached. The people of the Two Rivers are portrayed as stoic, down to earth and hard working in the books but are shown as rather dirty, lecherous, sloppy and drunken in the show.
One of the future antagonists (at least in the books) is shown in the beginning and Amazon chose to avoid an easy "gimme" by deliberately avoiding doing her hair like it was mentioned in the books. Sound small and petty? Hear me out. This would be like giving Cersei Lannister brown dreadlocks or Danaerys Targarian a red mullet. Besides the apparent pant suits that they have the aes sedai wearing, it becomes distracting and rather appalling. Robert Jordan had incredible attention to detail and it is almost like Rafe Judkins wanted to find those details and then either deliberately change them or ignore them altogether.
Amazon renewing for season three was, having now seen the first episode, extremely premature.
