These are the CRAPPIEST batteries EVER. I bought an 8 pack to replace the back up batteries in our AC powered smoke alarms. I opened the shrink wrap and put an "Amazon" 9 volt "backup" battery in our AC powered smoke alarm. 24 hours later the alarm started beeping 'low battery'?!? We replaced the 'new' Amazon 9 volt battery with a 'Walgreen' generic battery and its been running fine for a week. I figured it was a maybe defective battery. A second smoke alarm chirped 'low battery' - this time I measured the Amazon battery at 9.71 volts and installed it - less than 24 hours latter that smoke alarm is beeping low battery. I removed the Amazon battery and it tests out at just 7.86 volts!!! In case you are wondering, I do label the smoke alarm batteries with their date of install, so no- there was no confusion mixing these with old batteries. So that is a 25% failure rate within 24 hours and a 100% failure rate for the "AmazonBasics" batteries I've used. Changing the smoke alarm backup batteries isn't the easiest task, requiring a ladder to get to the ceiling smoke alarm and also disconnecting the AC power to be able to open the battery compartment, so I am disappointed that Amazon would sell these pieces of crap. I wish I could give zero stars....AmazonBasics 9 Volt Everyday Alkaline Batteries (8-Pack)
