2014 is a device with Flaws
The Runtastic Orbit as it ships now, August 23, 2014 is a nice device with one Huge Flaw. The Orbit does not report it's metrics to Runtastic's main website, the website has no provision to track the Orbit's steps and sleep monitoring data. I am hoping that Runtastic adds these features to their website with graphic plotting at some time in the future. Hopefully the near future. The Orbit also require's that your phone be able to connect to it's Bluetooth LE Transceiver as it is the only way to synch the wristband. 8/27/2014: Update I have been told by Runtastic on their Facebook page, that their main website will include the Orbit's information in a future update being worked on now. This is great news! I have meanwhile discovered that the Orbit when worn as a wrist band seriously over reports step counts by a large multiple, I am hoping that this is fixed in a future software update to the device itself. Sleep tracking is quite good, and the insight provided by it's data is excellent. Runtastic does seem to be working on the Orbit and I believe it's current flaws can be corrected with their planned change to the main website (I'm hoping for a Dashboard ala FitBit,) an adjustment to the device's sensitivity while worn on the wrist, and (in my opinion) the addition of a PC app that would synch data directly through a desktop or laptop computer. 8/28/2014: Update The Orbit credits two to three times as many steps a day compared to my FitBit One depending on what I am doing with my hands or if I am driving, it's still seems to be a better sleep tracker and I like that it provides a wrist read out for Runtastic Apps including Heart Rate (only if you are using a Runtastic Approved HRM and are a Gold Member.) Please fix the step count Runtastic! 10/02/2014: Update The Orbit hasn't proved as useful as I hoped. There is no website integration yet, and it's expensive for what it does do. The upcoming Basis Peak is a much more capable device, for just a bit more than the cost of the Runtastic Orbit. I have stopped using this device, but still use my FitBit One, I do still use the Runtastic Pro App and the Runtastic Mountain Biking Pro App which are not dependent on the Orbit at all. I'm finding the Orbit to be an expensive gadget that really has no defined place in Runtastic's App ecology. I regret buying it ultimately.
